As promised here is round 2 of Grant and Shala's engagement session. I was very excited when Shala suggested bringing her son Caleb along to take some "family" photos as well. After all, Caleb is definitely a huge part of Shala's life and including him was a no-brainier. These three are about to become a family.
I was a bit disappointed when I arrived at Brackett's Landing Park in Edmonds and there was no sign of sun. This is very typical for February days in Seattle, I guess I just always hope for a glimpse... and I was so thrilled when it popped it's head out. The soft low light of mid-winter is so nice. The wind may have been fierce and cold but it was sure nice to have a bit of sun.
And this is Caleb. Isn't he a doll? Such a little man! He was also so well behaved. He was so patient while Grant, Shala and I were taking photos.
See what I mean about the light! The sun just peeking through those heavy clouds. I LOVE it.
This photo is so very sweet. Caleb's father passed away a few years ago. They asked him where Daddy was, and he pointed to the sky.
The wind was so cold, we had to take a short break and bundle the little guy up. This is his warrior hat! Oh my word...too cute! This photo was captured purely by chance. While taking photos of just Grant & Shala, Caleb ran towards me with his little tongue hanging out. It was a lucky one!
Thank you Grant, Shala, and Caleb it what a fun day!
Grant + Shala are such a sweet couple. I enjoyed meeting with them this past Sunday at Brackett's Landing park in Edmonds, Washington. Notice how often they exchange soft kisses and how loving their embrace's are. Couples with this great chemistry are a photographers dream.
Shala and Grant are engaged to be wed this June.
This park is next to the ferry docks and has amazing variety in such a small space. The above photo may be my favorite. I love the soft light, the green from the terminal behind, and those clouds!
These two were really great sports. The day was freezing and the winds were cold. You wouldn't be able to tell with these smiles.
This photography session will have a second part :) Stay tuned. If you think these two are cute... wait until you meet Caleb!
Yesterday was such an amazing February day. The SUN was out! Due to wintertime the light was low in the sky, creating a wonderful back light for this session.
I headed up north from Seattle, WA to Anacortes for a maternity photo shoot with Nicole. She has 6 weeks to go. She is beautiful, glowing, and her and her husband Jason are very excited for their first baby boy, Elliott Raymon (yes. this is Raymon with no D :) He is named after his grandfather).
Nicole's family lives in Anacortes. She headed up north from Eugene, OR for a baby shower put on by the lovely ladies at her father's church, New Hope Christian Fellowship. Nicole and I headed to Washington Park for the photos. Washington Park is an amazing park with views of the San Juan Islands and Olympic Mountains. We headed to this small cove with a beach. You can see the evergreens in the background. Water, trees, low light, a photographers dream :)
I LOVE the Soft light on the Water from the Photos above!
My Favorite part about this above photo, is how the curves of the sand reflect the beauty of the curves from Nicole's beautiful baby belly.
The Photos above were not the most comfortable to take for Nicole, notice the rocks. I do enjoy how they turned out. Thanks Nicole for the sacrifice!
The below image was captured while Nicole started laughing because more and more people started coming to enjoy the small beach. She felt silly posing for the camera. So glad she did. The photos turned out amazing.
Nicole saw these ideas for the ribbon around her belly and the "hello my name is" tag on Pinterest. She wanted to use these ideas in her photo shoot. I love Pinterest. You can always find so many great ideas.

Thank you Nicole for allowing me to work with you! Congratulations to you and your husband Jason! I can't wait to meet baby Elliott :)
