Easter is becoming one of my favorite holidays with family! It is a tradition (2 years in a row now) for Adam's brother and family to head down to Eugene and spend time with my family. We get the best of both worlds with both families! With my brother having his first son about a week before, it was perfect timing to get some newborn photos.
My parents have a beautiful home on the McKenzie river, with wonderful large windows that let it amazing soft light. We used their bedroom to capture these.
Here are more photos from Easter with the family. The below images were taken by my sister-in-law Suzannah Kruse. She took the photos, but I edited them. She is also a photographer in Salem Oregon. Check her out HERE!And again Suzannah Kruse :) So fun to have photographs of me taking photos!
The Petree family are some of our dearest friends. Shawn & Anna have three beautiful children; Moriah, Elijah ... and in these photos the youngest, Hadassah, is in Anna's belly. I had the privilege of taking their family photos a few weeks before Hadassah was born. Anna said she loved the photos she had taken right before Elijah was born of her and Moriah, and wanted to document the family with just the two children. I love this idea. How sweet to have photos of the family and the new baby on it's way.
Laurelhurst Park is a beautiful setting for photos. The park is located in North East Seattle. We headed to the park because it is in the Petree's neighborhood. The park is beautiful, and has an amazing sloping hill that was perfect for capturing so much green in the photos. I also love the trees and the low sun of the late day.
I love Anna's style. Anna is very creative and she brought the balloons along to add some color and playfulness to the photos. She also did a wonderful job with dressing the kids. Their outfits bring a great POP of color.
Thank you Petree Family! Your family is beautiful.
As promised here is round 2 of Grant and Shala's engagement session. I was very excited when Shala suggested bringing her son Caleb along to take some "family" photos as well. After all, Caleb is definitely a huge part of Shala's life and including him was a no-brainier. These three are about to become a family.
I was a bit disappointed when I arrived at Brackett's Landing Park in Edmonds and there was no sign of sun. This is very typical for February days in Seattle, I guess I just always hope for a glimpse... and I was so thrilled when it popped it's head out. The soft low light of mid-winter is so nice. The wind may have been fierce and cold but it was sure nice to have a bit of sun.
And this is Caleb. Isn't he a doll? Such a little man! He was also so well behaved. He was so patient while Grant, Shala and I were taking photos.
See what I mean about the light! The sun just peeking through those heavy clouds. I LOVE it.
This photo is so very sweet. Caleb's father passed away a few years ago. They asked him where Daddy was, and he pointed to the sky.
The wind was so cold, we had to take a short break and bundle the little guy up. This is his warrior hat! Oh my word...too cute! This photo was captured purely by chance. While taking photos of just Grant & Shala, Caleb ran towards me with his little tongue hanging out. It was a lucky one!
Thank you Grant, Shala, and Caleb it what a fun day!
